Kirk's a guitar-playing pool shark... or a pool-playing guitar slinger. Either way, he's pretty danged good at both, and his wife wanted to get him something special, so she talked to me about building him something that combined both of his favorite things.
As with any themed guitar design, there's a fine line between tastefully themed and cringeworthingly cheesy. I think we hit the right side of that line with this one. We incorporated a felt green top with a rich mahogany back to simulate a high-end pool table and tied in a simple fretboard inlay with chalk blue side markers.
