Phil is a good friend of mine, and he has this fascination with woods. Each of his acoustic guitars is an artwork of natural colors, textures, and depth. He'd already ordered one guitar from me (see Phil's Blue Jean Baby), but he was really yearning for something that fit his favorite aesthetic: beautiful natural wood.
With that in mind, I kept my eye open for something that would really get him excited, and I came across this gorgeous piece of curly claro walnut. I sent him a pic, and he PayPal'd me money right away with the instructions, "BUY IT!"
So I did.
Since he already had one of my T style bodies, we worked together to come up with something completely different that would really show off as much of the walnut as possible. We also wanted to make sure we showcased a variety of woods and textures. I think we did alright.
