Birch and his family have been friends for a long time. He and I would play on the worship team at church together, and his parents were in our small group for quite a while as well. And when I was entertaining the idea of opening a Dog Tired retail store, Birch was one of the first people who popped into mind as someone I'd like to have working with me. The family is just one of those families you like to know.
Birch had wanted one of my guitars for some time, and I was legitimately excited when his dad decided to commission one for him. I know a lot of my guitars have cool stories surrounding them (about the wood or some other aspect), but his one was special just because of who I got to build it for.
