Dave is a friend and guitar player I've long admired. He's responsible for getting me started in the worship band at church, and he turned me on to the incredible world of bluegrass and flatpicking. He's one of the most melodic players I've heard, and I've always loved the way he plays.
With that being said, this guitar was more nerve-wracking than any other I've done. When you're building a guitar for a player you respect and admire so much, you tend to put quite a bit of extra pressure on yourself to make sure everything is perfect. The good news is that he knew exactly what he wanted:
- Alder body
- Daphne blue finish
- Tortoise pickguard
- Maple neck and fretboard
- Hand-wound noiseless tele pickups
- CTS pots
- Switchcraft switch and jack
- Nickel hardware
- Wilkinson bridge with brass compensated saddles
- Gold EVO fret wire
